Are grain free dog foods raw, almost raw, or "close to raw?" Do they have more meat? Are they more natural?... The "grain free dog food" claim is made to lead people to believe there is either something wrong with grains, or that the food approximates raw and/or is predominantly meat. The claim also implies that a grain free dog food is better or safer than all the products that have grains. It is true that starch is not a natural component of a carnivore's diet. Wysong was the first to draw attention to this fact. But simply substituting one starch for another does not solve the problem. Dog foods that contain starch and have the "grain free dog food" claim is like saying you are on a fat free diet but then eat lots of oils, or a sugar free diet and then eat lots of starchy dough. | ||
